Well-Child Check-Ups
Building a Healthy Foundation for Your Child
Regular well-child check-ups are essential for monitoring your child’s growth, development, and overall health. At Community Health of Central Washington (CHCW), we’re here to support parents through each stage of their child’s life with comprehensive care and resources. These check-ups offer an opportunity to assess your child’s physical, emotional, and developmental progress, as well as provide preventive care, such as immunizations.
What to Expect at a Well-Child Check-Up
During a well-child check-up, your child’s provider will:
Track Growth and Development:
Measurements of height, weight, and head circumference help track your child’s growth. Developmental screenings assess motor skills, speech, social behaviors, and cognitive development to ensure milestones are met.
Conduct Physical Exams:
Routine exams help detect potential health issues early. These exams include hearing and vision screenings, as well as assessments of vital signs and organ health.
Provide Immunizations:
Vaccinations help protect your child from preventable diseases.
Discuss Nutrition and Lifestyle:
Visit includes discussions on nutrition, sleep patterns, physical activity, and other lifestyle factors that contribute to your child’s health and development.
Offer Parental Guidance:
Well-child visits are a chance to ask questions about your child’s behavior, school readiness, sleep, or other areas of concern.
